Siri Shortcut: Alarm
In iOS 12, the “workflow” application that was acquired by Apple and converted into “shortcuts” is full of amazing ways to shave seconds off of your life and get technology working for you. This is a simple shortcut that basically sets an alarm that has been predefined. I am part of a great group of men called “F3”. When I plan to work out the next morning, I usually set two alarms to make sure I don’t miss the 5:30 AM start time. With shortcuts, I can click one button as I jump in bed to set both the primary and secondary alarm. You can add any shortcut as a Siri shortcut, add a button to your home screen or “my favorites”, and swipe right to add the shortcuts to your dashboard. These can be edited so that only the shortcuts you want will appear in the dashboard. Attached is a video, but I did want to cover some basic hurdles I had to overcome. When adding an alarm and other shortcuts, you have to, in some cases, perform the action before looking up the shortcut. In this case, I added the F3 alarm and enabled the alarm for 5:00 AM. Once that action is complete, searching “alarm” under the shortcut app will reveal the action “Enable F3 alarm for 5:00AM”. Give it a shot and feel free to reach out for any assistance.
